In 1994, a few concerned members of our community formed the Elephant Head Volunteer Fire Department, Inc. We are a tax-exempt, non-profit, all volunteer, AZ Corporation. We are not a tax supported Fire Department. The property taxes you pay do not provide medical services or fire services.
EHFR operates 2 fire engines, 1 light rescue, 1 water tender, 1 utility/rescue truck and 9 volunteers. Providing 24/7 Fire and Medical Services does not come without a cost. The total cost involved with the operation of our department exceeds $50,000.00 per year. This does not include training, continued education or gear which our volunteers purchase themselves. We conduct fundraisers, offer subscriptions and apply for grants to cover direct operating costs. The men and women (all volunteers) serving you depend on the generosity of the residents in our community to continue to operate.
